Forthcoming activities

The next visit by the Twinning Association to Plaisance du Touch will be from 29 October – 2 November 2008.  The Lingfield Silver Band, Lingfield Harmony and Marlings Morris Dancers will also be going – at the moment about 80 people in total – as Plaisance are organising a spectacular event over these few days, with a theme running throughout of music and water (water being a high priority subject in Europe at the moment).  They are also inviting their other twin towns in Spain and Italy so there will be a wonderful variety of music (played by various groups and bands), dancing and singing from each of the countries invited, plus of course France.  There will be exhibitions, visits and conferences around the theme of water. We have been asked to provide information on where our drinking water comes from and how our water reserves are managed.  We are hoping to get one of the local schools involved in doing a project which can be transported and put on display.  We are hoping to take information on the pond in the Lingfield Wildlife Reserve too.

If you feel you would like to join us, please get in touch with any of the Committee members who will be happy to give you further information on the visit.  Don’t worry if you are not able to speak French, or feel what you can speak isn’t adequate enough as you will be placed with a suitable family where you can practice what you know or the other family will speak English. We do like visitors and host families to be able to communicate with one another and to enjoy themselves!

We look forward to hearing from you.
